Canaan’s Freekeh comes from naturally organic Palestinian 'Anbar wheat from the Marj Ben Amer fertile plain area known as the breadbasket of Palestine. This wholesome specialty passed down through generations is flame-roasted green wheat that is sun dried, crushed, then rolled or rubbed (freekeh comes from the word 'to rub' in Arabic) to further separate the husks. Since the wheat is harvested green, it is naturally higher in nutrients, especially fiber and protein. It is a hearty grain with a smoky taste and firm texture. Serve alone, as a salad with fresh vegetables and dried fruit, a hearty soup, or together with roasted vegetables, meat, or seafood.

Ingredients: flame roasted, dried green wheat. 250g box.

Freekeh

Intrigued by your website description, I decided to try this " green grain" and also gave some to a friend who had grown up in Lebanon and later worked in Jerusalem. We were both delighted by the flavor and texture. Thank you for encouraging me to "think (and eat) outside the box"!

Love this stuff

Discovered freekeh through a Koinonia order, and I love the stuff. So satisfying and nutritious. You can add all kinds of things to it but really I like it all by itself, it is very flavorful and a nice texture.
